Editorial Standards
Discover Loudoun is a local-guidance publication. Our standard is practical decision support, not promotional hype.
Core principles
- Accuracy first: verify key details before publishing
- Practical utility: help readers decide, not just browse
- Transparency: clearly label sponsored placements and partnerships
- Maintenance: revisit time-sensitive pages on a recurring schedule
What makes a page publishable
A guide should answer route, timing, cost, and backup questions clearly enough that a reader can act on it. Pages that only gesture at ideas without helping with sequencing or tradeoffs do not meet the standard.
Sourcing approach
We prefer primary venue information for logistics and use editorial judgment to decide what matters most for a reader planning a real outing. When a detail is especially time-sensitive, we bias toward recent verification or explicit uncertainty.
Corrections policy
If a material error is identified, we update the page promptly and prioritize high-traffic guides first.
Commercial content disclosures
Sponsored content, paid placements, and affiliate relationships are disclosed where applicable. Editorial guides are not written to satisfy advertisers.
Update signals
We prioritize updates when a page becomes time-sensitive, a reader flags a material issue, or a route structure no longer reflects the cleanest planning option.
